Monday 21th December:
It’s been a long day as I started at 5am, I have to seek supplies and then go to Shelbourne Park for trials. The lads hunted pups and we had a trip to the supermarket for food for pups. There was a small bit of maintenance work to do. The roads were quiet going to Dublin and coming home and with the virus it’s nothing like Christmas they tell me the ports are a nightmare.
ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK WE HAD ONE WINNER NORMANSLAND FLYER AT CENTRAL PARK LAST NIGHT. TONIGHT WE HAVE THREE RUNNERS AT NOTTINGHAM SWIFT TAXMAN, GEELO CONEY AND CHURCHILL HOLLY.
Tuesday 22nd December:
Were doing Tuesdays journal on Thursday morning as I day tripped to the UK with hounds that were sold. The day went well and there were no problems with the ferries. The new customs are open in Dublin Port. If everything isnt right coming back into Ireland it would be easier to escape from Portlaoise prison. You have to go through a Revenue check an then a police check. Anybody travelling with the vehicle not right or the paperwork not correct will have a nightmare. At the kennels we did more preperation work with our September 2019 to prepare them for schooling and we hunted pups.
ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK WE HAD ONE WINNER LAST NIGHT GEELO CONEY AT NOTTINGHAM.
Wednesday 23rd December:
Were doing Wednesdays journal on Thursday morning. We got all our waste away as the landfill is closed until next Tuesday. We collected the last of our supplies to get us over the Christmas period and we hunted pups. We changed beds and did a tidy up.
Thursday 24th December:
The weather is good but very cold. We need bits and pieces such as food for pups o get us over the Christmas period. At the kennels we will do the last of the bed changing, hopefully wash the vans and prepare for Christmas day. We have paperwork to finish off and we need supplies from the vets. Whatever happens I need a trip to the supermarket for myself.
Christmas Day:
WE WISH ALL CUSTOMERS NEW AND OLD, FRIENDS AND FAMILY, THE WHOLE OF THE GREYHOUND INDUSTRY A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS. ITS A CHRISTMAS WITH A DIFFERENCE. LETS HOPE EVERYBODY HAS A SAFE, HAPPY AND PEACEFUL DAY.
At the kennels we will start at 6am as normal and hopefully if everything goes to plan we will have all hounds fed, all kennels cleaned by 11am. We will head for our lunches and come back mid afternoon to let all hounds that are in kennels out again at around 8pm Christmas night. I have it well planned so everything should go perfectly.
Boxing Day:
We got through the two days holidays Christmas Day and St Stephens Day (Boxing Day) absolutely perfect. The weather was in our favor as it was dry and there was no problems thank goodness. We had all the hounds fed by 10:30 am in both days. We came back at 2:30 each day to let the hounds out that are in kennels to clean themselves, fed the young pups again and we did the same at 8 pm. Newcastle United were rubbish against Man City last night. I enjoyed both days with my head lad Padgie and his family.
Sunday 27th December:
We had heavy wind and rain overnight. Thankfully we had no damage and its a cold dry morning. Were changing all the beds and giving the kennels an extra clean. We have pups to inject and we will also hunt pups today. I need food from the supermarket for young pups. We will do a bit of a tidy up and if we get all this done we will have had a good day.
ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK WE HAVE ONE RUNNER TONIGHT AT CENTRAL PARK NORMANSLAND FLYER IN THE KENT HURDLE FINAL.
