WEEK STARTING MONDAY THE 14TH OCTOBER

Monday 14th October:

Were doing Monday – Saturdays journals on Saturday morning. When were busy the journal always gets neglected. On Monday morning I headed for the vets. John Nolan was here earmarking pups and marking up saplings into their identity cards which took all day. We had hounds that were sold leave for the UK. On this weeks Greyhound Star British performance of the week we have one hound on the list: Swift Unkind at Yarmouth.

Tuesday 15th October:

The whole of Tuesday was taken up preparing hounds for schooling and we also got a delivery of breakfast cereal. A brood had pups. Everything went well. We also did a tidy up around the yard.

Wednesday 16th October:

I had to go to collect meat, tripe and chicken. We needed supplies from the cash and carry, hardware, food for pups and a trip to the dump plus loads of other bits and pieces.

Thursday 17th October:

We got a delivery of dried meat, Kasco dog food. We fed up early as the main job of the day was trialing at Kilkenny. It was one of the best days trialing I’ve had in a long time. More hounds that were sold left for the UK.

Friday 18th October:

It was another day of collecting supplies and preparing more hounds for schooling. We got the tidy up done around the yard and we changed beds in all the kennels in all the rearing houses. We had two broods go to Richard Cuddys for mating. The day went well.

ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK WE HAVE SIX RUNNERS TONIGHT. AT ROMFORD: SWIFT ARRIVE, BURROWS TIGER, SWIFT NANCY, SWIFT JARVIS, TOO WRIGHT AND SWIFT DEPOT.

Saturday 19th October:

The first job today was to collect meat, get all our waste away to the dump, John O’Reilly was here checking all the hounds that are schooling. We have tidied up around the place. Whatever happens at 3pm I’ll watch Newcastle play Brighton.

ON THE OPEN RACE SCENE IN THE UK WE HAVE FOUR RUNNERS TONIGHT. AT CENTRAL PARK: SWIFT UBIQUITY AND SWIFT DELTA. AT MONMORE: BANDANA BONO. AT SHELBOURNE IN A HEAT OF THE DERBY: PHOENIX MEMPHIS.

Sunday 20th October:

It will be a typical Sunday where we cook, clean, feed and let hounds out of kennels. The forecast is for a storm so I hope we don’t get it too bad.
